How to get to the Santa Barbara Student Home
Contact your school – they might have a pick-up service.
From the Santa Barbara airport (SBA): take a taxi to 721 West Victoria Street in Santa Barbara. Depending on traffic, the taxi ride takes about 20-30 minutes.
From the Los Angeles airport (LAX)
Plane: the easiest and fastest way to the Santa Barbara Student Home is by plane to the Santa Barbara Airport (SBA). From there, you can easily take a taxi to 721 West Victoria Street in Santa Barbara. Depending on traffic, the taxi ride takes about 20-30 minutes.
Bus: take the Santa Barbara Airbus from LAX to Hotel Marmonte (1111 E Cabrillo Boulevard) in Santa Barbara (about $50). Then take a taxi to 721 West Victoria Street (about $15). The bus ride takes about 2½ hours; the taxi ride is about 5 minutes.
Shuttle Van: take the Roadrunner Shuttle van directly to the Student Home at 721 West Victoria Street in Santa Barbara (over $100). The Roadrunner Shuttle van takes many other passengers too and will stop at other places before reaching Santa Barbara.
1. Kaplan International Center and SBCC
Kaplan International Center is located on the campus of Santa Barbara City College (SBCC). One of the most beautiful college locations in the US, it overlooks the Pacific Ocean, beaches and harbor, and is only 1.9 km from the Student Home. You can walk there in 25 minutes or ride a bicycle there in 15 minutes. Alternatively, take the twice-hourly bus from the bus stop near the Student Home. The bus takes 10 minutes.

2. ELC (English Language Center)
ELC is located in downtown Santa Barbara only two blocks from State Street. It's only 1.5 km from the Student Home, so you can walk (about 15 minutes) or ride a bicycle (about 10 minutes) via the small bridge on West Anapamu Street. Alternatively, you can take the bus from the nearby bus stop to the Transit Center (the bus goes every few minutes).
3. ELS Language Center
The ELS Language Center is located in downtown Santa Barbara near State Street. About 1.2 km (7 blocks) from the Student Home, walk or ride a bicycle over the small bridge on West Anapamu Street or take the bus from the nearby bus stop to the Transit Center (the bus goes every few minutes). Walking takes about 15 minutes, or you can ride a bicycle there in 10 minutes.
4. EF International School of English
The EF International School of English in Santa Barbara is located in downtown Santa Barbara near State Street. It's about 1.4 km from the Student Home. You can walk there (along Micheltorena Street towards downtown) in 15 minutes or ride a bicycle there in about 10 minutes.
5. Santa Barbara Business College (SBBC)
SBBC is located in downtown Santa Barbara just one block West of State Street. It's about 2 km from the Student Home. You can walk there in 25 minutes or ride a bicycle there in about 10 minutes.
6. University of California in Santa Barbara (UCSB)
The University of California Santa Barbara is actually located in the nearby town of Goleta. Take the express bus (line 24X) or the regular bus from the Transit Center directly to UCSB. The express bus goes every 30 minutes and takes less than 20 minutes to get to UCSB.
